But those who know God’s heart, revealed in sending his only Son to die for our sins, will never be ruled by fear. That includes Mary, who learned she was going to bear God’s Son. That includes the shepherds, who witnessed the glory of angelic choirs one evening on a hillside. And that includes anyone who believes Jesus when he says, “Come to me all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Rest from our sin, rest from our striving, rest from our fears.
